McCormack is a native of Connecticut, born in a home with no entertainment connections whatsoever according to her family tree. is the daughter of a clinical therapy professional and the proprietor of an Ice Cream Shop. In the wake of separation from her parents, she went to Trinity College Hartford, Connecticut. After finishing her studies at Wardlaw-Hartridge School with a BA, she graduated. At the age of 12 She began her acting career with a production of the Christmas opera "Amahl And The Night Visitor".
