Leona Louise Lewis (born on the 3rd April, 1985) is a British singer, songwriter as well as an actress and activist. Born in the London Borough of Islington, she attended in the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology located in Croydon. Lewis was recognized as a national talent when she won the third series of The X Factor in 2006, winning the PS1 million recording deal together with Syco Music. A song by Kelly Clarkson"A Moment Like This" was her winner. The album sold 50,000 downloads in less than 30 minutesand remained at number one for four weeks. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5-album deal in February 2007. Her success was further boosted by the album release of her first album of her own, Spirit (2007), which received a platinum certification of 10x in the UK as well as becoming the fourth top-selling album in the 2000s and one of the albums that sold the highest in UK chart time. Based on the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the most-sold debut album by an artist of female origin in the 21st century. "Bleeding Love" is the single that was released as the album's lead track from Spirit, remained #1 within the UK for seven weeks. It was also the top-selling UK single. The song was among the best-selling during 2008, and Lewis was awarded an award for her work, the Billboard Award for the Most Popular New Artist. Echo was her second studio album. Lewis also composed the hit song "I See You" on behalf of Avatar. Lewis' hit single "Collide," was made in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and she also dropped Hurt the EP, her first long-form play. Glassheart (2012) came out as Lewis her 3rd studio album. This was Lewis' first attempt at electronic dance music and dubstep. While on her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she started recording music for her debut Christmas album. The following year, her Christmas with Love featuring the title track "One more time", reached number three in the UK. This chart entry was what made Lewis one of the very first British independent female musician in the top 5 spots, having eight singles. She also surpasses Olivia Newton John's record of seven.
